#14merge failure sometimes shows error page instead of error alert
When merge fails due to patches not applying cleanly, it normally shows the page again with a red error alert near the top. I have seen it (eg in my darcsweb repo) show a full error page with the exception instead, which is undesirable. (Except, the exception is more informative - it would be nice to include those details in the error alert.)
