I have been encouraged to work on this a bit. I've taken care of the easy part: there is now a paypal button on the front page. Also a little funding blurb, and some project financial stats, based on a full public ledger which we're now keeping.
Next steps: add Patreon and Gratipay buttons; more automated financial reports; continue cultivating community support to increase darcs hub sustainability. Ideas and help welcome.
