The ssl lib currently supports rsa, but not eg "ecdsa-sha2-nistp256".

AFAICT, this issue still stands. I could not login with my ecdsa key and assumed it was intentional (guessed it supported ed25519 but didn't bother to generate a key just for testing this). Please add a note about supported keys in the FAQ.
