Actually, why should it ? Aren't email addresses still ascii-requiring ?

Well, changing the full name doesn't accept umlauts either and that should definitely be possible. Once we fix it for the name it will probably be fixed for the email too (it shouldn't matter if the mail address is valid or not, the user is responsible for that).
